Mr. Marulanda acts as managing director of INGETEC, a consulting engineering firm mainly working in Latin-America, with a track of record of more than 75 years and around 1800 employees. He is responsible for leading and supervising and leading the projects of the firm, and acts as project manager of some of the key projects of the company.  He has extensive experience across different industries such as: energy, infrastructure, mining, industrial development and Oil and Gas. His professional background and capabilities include contract management, programmatic project evaluation and analysis of claims and disputes. He has participated in evaluating multiple claims and as a technical expert in contractual disputes.

 

Mr. Marulanda has been an active participant and contributor to the ITA (International Tunneling Association) community for more than twenty years. He currently serves in ITA's Executive Council (board of directors). Since 2005, he has been an active participant in WG3 (Contractual Practices) and since 2014 he has represented ITA in TG-10, a joint task group with FIDIC that developed the new FIDIC “Emerald” standard form contract.

 

Mr. Marulanda holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of the Andes, along with a master’s degree in Civil Engineering, focusing on Geotechnical Engineering, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Moreover, he holds a Master of Project Management degree from Northwestern University (Degree with High Honors) and a DBA doctorate in project risk management of projects from ISM. Additionally, he has participated in the Harvard University YPO Presidents’ Program for the last six years. He is a registered professional engineer in Colombia and in the USA (Florida), and certified as a PMP (Project Manager Professional) by PMI.

 

In the academic world, Mr. Marulanda has been actively involved with the University of the Andes and Escuela Colombiana de Ingeniería, as a visiting professor in the fields of geotechnical engineering and project management. He has also acted as advisor for several undergraduate dissertations. He has published more than 30 articles and technical papers in technical journals and conference proceedings.
